Against his better judgment, our controller allowed the Xerox rep to have "one more chance" with a second replacement unit. In our controller's defense, a refund would have been pro-rated and subject to [lenghty] negotiations within Xerox and with teh reseller. (Surprise.) So she told us we'd have a replacement WITHIN SIX DAYS. Keep in mind this is Xerox's best foot forward, and compare that to ordering the original Beast from PC Connection and getting it the next day.
To Xerox's credit, six days turned out to be three. The new printer arrived late in May 18. After having someone hoist it into place, our adminstrator set about getting it going this morning, as she had some critical trade show literature and customer communications to get out today. As I walked by, she asked me to help because she could not get the replacement going. I determined that it powered up, printed nice test pages, but would not be recognized on six different working USB ports on two different PC's, using two different USB cables. So Xerox's "one last chance" was a DOA unit. Perhaps it's a new cycle time reduction initiative. Perhaps we got all the Phasers factory-set to "kill" instead of "stun". Perhaps Xerox will feel compelled to get us a functioning printer today so we can meet or dedlines without having to run off to Staples (похоже, говорит про магазин Staples.com). I hope these guys still have Brother Dominick on retainer, because we need a miracle (типа, не успевает напечатать работу, крайние сроки, надежда на чудо…).

В общем, поменяли ему уже на третий принтер..... И опять проблема - не может подключиться к USB порту (перепробовали 6 портов на двух компах и два usb-кабеля) - короче, принтер DOA (почтовый термин, dead on arrival).... перевод классный в Лингво - "Скончался по пути ( в больницу и т. п. )".... Короче, опять труп!!

А почему бы иногда хотябы обращать внимание и на положительные стороны... Если 1% принтеров имеют брак, то незачит что все они такие.

Мы сейчас в несколько очень крупных фирм ставим сотни именно таких принтеров, незнаю как они будут работать но я думаю что плохие аппараты ставить бы не стали, т.к. себе дороже выйдет.

Update - So Far. . .
Well, the customer service rep was aghast, but somehow she composed herself enough to tell me blandly that any parts would have to be ordered and that same day service was out of the question, but that there would be service on Monday. She did offer to reimburse us in kind for expenses incurred for going offsite to print stuff.
Monday morning, a new printer arrived (our fourth) and it started up right out of the box, just like it's supposed to. But it's still early....

Представитель был aghast (пораженный ужасом; ошеломленный).... пообещал, что все запчасти достанут в тот же день и в этот же день дадут ответ.... кроме того, предложили компенсацию за все страдания.... В понедельник доставили принтер на замену (четвертый!!), и все заработало так, как и должно быть. Но типа, еще не вечер......

Вообщем я уже устал читать всю эту бредовню про принтер, которую hpm нашел на какомто иностранном форуме. Покажите мн ехоть одну технику, которая из 100% неимеет процент брака?. Оключаюсь от этой ветки. hpm слышит только себя и одного иностранца. Для меня эта тема закрыта.

Похоже, снабженец некомпетентным оказался..... ставить такие неэкономные (да просто дорогущие по расходке!! самые наверно дорогие!!) принтера.... То ли купился на дешевизну (поймала Xerox лоха), то ли откат.... Хотя нельзя исключать особых условий по поставкам расходки....

Остаётся только узнать подробности контрактов и можно делать действительно правильные выводы, о том что и как, хотя.... мы и без них мастера.

If you print thousands color page a day, it's fine. If you print a few black text pages or nothing (exclude many 100% coverage 'cleaning page' which auto & force by the printer), it still waste (liquid & ready, then dump to waste bin) full set of wax within 2 weeks, even following the instruction to use standby instead of shutdown....

Я уже не раз встречаю информацию, что этот принтер насильно печатает страницу для прочистки (cleaning page), и что ее нельзя отключить.... И что даже если принтер все время включен, но вы не печатаете, чернила все равно израсходуются… Это правда? Если да, то когда и с какой периодичностью кулибины от хероха придумали ее печатать (или прочищать печатную головку)?

Только что прочитал фразу на сей счет:

Даю весь текст:

Strengths: Good quality text printing on a variety of surfaces
Weaknesses: Ink scratches easily; photographs do not print as well as on a laser; poorly thought out
Summary: Our old Phaser 8400 was becoming unreliable, so we "upgraded". There are improvements - but not in running costs like Xerox would have you believe, and build quality is still below the cometition from Japan.
The firmware for this printer is pathetic - in my opinion unusable if you are in a country other than USA. If you have A4 paper loaded, and the print job expects letter, the printer does not "handle" it like other printers (even older Xerox printers) - it goes into a mode that is practically unrecoverable. There are also no Linux drivers - unforgivable in this day and age.
And worst of all, in a power cut, consumables are dumped, making the cost of a power down very, very expensive.
